summer 2013

Catch up time! My oldest two are at school and my youngest is asleep so I have no excuses. Let's start back in July.  Addy turned 2 and she knows it! She loves playing with Will and Rosie whether it be jumping on the trampoline or making nests out of blankets, she is happiest with them. She also loves swimsuits. She would wear her swimsuit every minute of every day. We got her a new swimsuit for her birthday, however we found out she only likes one particular swimsuit. She hasn't worn her new one, even with her mom's pleadings! She requested a pink cake for her birthday.

I learned my little sister Laura had tickets to the Goo Goo Dolls/Matchbox 20 concert. I really wanted to go, but thought it impractical since it was two days away. I asked her what her seat number was and looked online to see if there was one close by. Well, what do you know the seat next to her was still available! Call it a sign, I don't know, but it was enough for me to want to go. I expressed my interest to Clark and he got online and bought me a ticket. It was awesome! It was an outdoor concert in Denver.

 

 

We went to Pinedale with Clark's family for a mini Anderson reunion. We boated across Green River Lake and went on a hike to a natural bridge. The water was very cold, but didn't stop my kids from taking a dip.

 

We went to a Weatherford reunion in Bear Lake in August. We enjoyed lots of boating, knee-boarding, riding the wave runner, milkshakes, visiting Rockland where my grandparents are buried, and feeding the carp at the marina. We visited Great Aunt Renee, my paternal Grandmother's sister. She still spends her summers at the "Keetch Cottage" in the Bear Lake area. These next two pictures were out on her porch.

Do you think the kids were really asleep?

Feeding the beloved carp. Grandma gave them quarters to buy fish food. They started throwing the food in the water, but then wanted to touch the fish so they held it in the water and let the fish suck it out of their hand. My brother Bob put fish food in his toes and had them eat it. Those carp never had it so good! Ha ha.

We have a new pet thanks to my brother Josh. He donated it to us after he heard about our tragic pet incident.

Will found a lizard (who we named Blizzard) at the Flaming Gorge earlier this summer. We brought it home and put it in a 10 gallon terrarium. Will's mom thought it wasn't getting enough sunlight so she took the tank outside for the lizard to warm up. An hour later, she went to check on Blizzard and found him to be very stiff. He is now buried in our garden. May he forever rest in peace.

Our new pet is a 7 or 8 year old leopard gecko named "Graggy". We have had a lot of fun with her. Will feeds her crickets and mealworms every day and turns the heat light on in the morning and off at night.

 Speaking of our garden, look at this! Our zucchini turned out to be prolific. These were our biggest ones. We also planted green beans, peas, onions, and golden potatoes. We dug out the potatoes last week and ended up with 20 lbs. The kids really enjoyed going out and picking peas to snack on.



Spring 2012

When we went to Laramie for Paul's graduation, we found a baby bunny rabbit. Clark scooped it up in a helmet and brought it inside to show everyone.

Rosie loves Amy's stuffed penguin, Avalanche. She told me she found a way to carry him all over. By using a book cover he is always by her side :)

 



 

For Mother's Day, Dad and Paul made my mom and I delicious omelettes, toast with strawberry jam and hot chocolate. We felt very loved!

 

 

Will requested we bring dirt 'n worms to his 1st grade class for his birthday. It was a hit, except for the one kid who didn't like chocolate, we made him a cup of worms.

 I'll post another after picture once it's completely gone.  We still have two stumps, but they should be removed shortly by a construction company with an excavator.

 

Rosie graduated preschool. Her teacher, Miss Holly was so kind and patient. She gave all of her kids a beautiful notebook full of pictures from the year. Rosie sleeps with it at night.

 

 Amy graduated high school! (Sorry Amy, this picture is blurry!!! ) We are so proud of Amy! And so happy she'll be closer to us.

 

Addy really loves Amy. She loves Amy to push her on the swing and take her potty.

It's been a wonderful spring and we're looking forward to a great summer.

Big week for Addy

Addy seems to have grown up overnight.  This week she said "pee pee" and I said, "Did you have a pee pee?" and she said, "Pee pee" again so I asked, "Potty?" and she said "Pep" (translated to mean "Yep")  So I took her diaper off and sat her on the potty and sure enough, she went! The next day, same story only substitute the word "Poo poo" for "Pee pee"!  Sorry if this is graphic, but I have to record this before I forget. However, I am dragging my feet to potty train because it was such an ordeal with my other two.  Little Addy's going to have to be pretty convincing before I buckle down and do it full time. 

One more story from this week.  On our way home, I saw a shooting star.  I pointed it out to the kids, but it had already fallen before they saw it.  They said, "Mom you should make a wish!" So I did and then of course, they wanted to know what my wish was.  I told them I wished that we could all have a good friend in our life.  I asked Will, "Do you have a good friend?" and Will replied, "Yea, Dad".  Made my heart flutter a little.  Then we asked Rosie and she said, "Probably Laney" (the girl next door).  :)

For my birthday, Clark went above and beyond.  In the morning, he let me sleep in while he made bacon and mushroom omelettes. After breakfast, we went for a family bike ride.  Then we drove to Bountiful.  Clark and the kids hung out at my Aunt Brenda's house while I went shopping.  Then Clark and I went to Olive Garden for dinner. It was a wonderful day! Now if I can just get used to saying I am 30 years old!!

We're back

We're back!  Yes, it's true, I am attempting to blog once again.  We finally got internet at our home so now I have no excuses, right?  I'll give you a quick update of the past 9 months:  Actually, scratch that...too much has happened in the last 9 months.  I'll tell you what has happened in the last month instead :)

Will started 1st grade!  He has Mrs. Woodbury, who was Clark's kindergarten teacher long ago.  He loves the current unit they are doing on bugs.  He has already filled his bug box with 9 bugs. Mrs. Woodbury suggested catching the bugs, sealing them in a plastic bag with a cotton ball soaked in nail polish remover, and then pinning them in the bug box.  Sadly, we found that our first few bugs were not all the way dead after sealing them in the plastic bag.  They started to move while they were pinned in the bug box.  Now we know to keep them in the plastic bag for several hours before assuming them dead!

Addy is learning new things each day. Her new passion is toothbrushes.  As shown in the above photo, she often likes having 3 within arm's reach.  She gets quite upset if I go into the bathroom, with her on my hip, and I don't give her a toothbrush on the way out!  She does have 5 teeth now.  She scoots faster than ever, but no first steps yet. Her favorite words are, "Pepper (our dog), cracker, ball, bye-bye, hi, da-da, ma-ma, apple, good girl, and one (how old she is)."

Yep, that's an adult tooth Will is showing you!  He lost his first tooth while in Laramie.  He mentioned his mouth hurting so I looked and saw that he had an adult tooth growing behind his baby tooth.  I asked if his tooth was loose and he wiggled it and with smiles in his eyes said, "Yes!" He spent most of the day wiggling it and then after the football game, he was ready for Clark to yank it out.  Clark wrapped floss around the tooth and before Will knew it, it was gone and he was $1 richer.

Will (and Rosie . . . I will post her picture next!) started soccer last month.  Will is on the Orange Mustangs team.  It consists of 6-8 year olds.  Rosie's team is the Green Gators and it has 3-5 year olds.  They usually play one game a week.  Will is loving it!  In one game, he scored 4 goals! Before bed, I ask what he was thankful for that day and it is usually, "That I got to play soccer today."
