He got to pretend he was driving the firetruck. Will thought this was very cool!
There was a mini Union Pacific train with two engines, two gondolas (I think . . . I'll have to ask Clark exactly what type of train car they were), and a caboose. It took kids up and down the street. When we got to the line, there was only a handful of kids there and I thought, "This is strange." Turns out, the train broke down! Will kept asking to ride the train so I decided to set him in the gondola and take his picture. Just a minute after I took the picture, the conductor yelled, "It's fixed." All the kids around ran towards it and luckily Will and I already had a spot saved. While we were riding in it, Will waved big to all the bystanders and kept saying, "fast train, fast train."
Free ice cream! Will really loved this, though his face is quite somber in this pic.
We watched the fireworks from the golf course. After they shot off a firework, Will would ask, "All done?" and I'd say, "No not yet." He asked this about 10 times and then finally I think he understood that the sky would get dark for a few seconds before he would see a new firework. Rosie loved the fireworks! I tried to feed her a bottle while they were going off and she kept moving her head so she could watch the fireworks while she sipped.
